Home DJ studio - Dante Tom
Dante Tom had us make six custom-made absorption panels for his home studio. He chose brown coating fabric and dimensions 100 x 60 x 10 cm.
We placed the absorbers on the first reflecting points behind the speakers, on the right wall, and on the left wall in the unconventional alcove of the room. Not only does the room look cozier now, but above all, the sound in the listening position sounds better.
By placing the absorbers on the first reflecting points and in the alcove, we have eliminated direct reflections of sound on the listening position and the resulting sound is much more clean and balanced. The reverberation time RT60 has been reduced to below 0.6 s by this simple method (see attached RT60 chart - green line).
As can be seen from the accompanying measurement, the resulting sound is more balanced mainly at lower frequencies (see attached SPL chart, green line). However, thanks to the resulting measurements, we also found that there is still much to improve and it was necessary to shift the listening position slightly away from the front wall because the interference of the wall causes SPL to drop significantly around 150 Hz. The location of the listening position is as important as the use of acoustic elements.
